1. Origins

With roots tracing back to the Tenshō era (circa 1580), the company was formally established as Higashimaru Shoyu Co., Ltd. on March 5, 1942, operating from Tatsuno, Hyōgo Prefecture, one of Japan’s historical centers of soy sauce production

The business manufactures and sells soy sauces—including Koikuchi, Usukuchi (light soy), as well as liquid and powdered seasonings—and also operates a growing marine-feed division using byproducts from soy sauce production
